Did James and Jemima divorce, only to remarry by 1859? There doesn't appear to be another 4-5 year old James Cowan in the 1860 census in Clinton County, Kentucky, and no alternate birth record for the 4-year-old James Cowan in the 1860 census with James and Gemima Cowan.
