- ↑ Lida Byerly-James Chapman Recite Vows
The marriage of Miss Lida Byerly and James Eugene Chapman was solemnized New Year's Day in the apartment of the bride at Alamosa, Colo., with Bishop Rose of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints officiating.
Accompanied at the piano by the groom's aunt, Mrs. Ray Nielson, , sister of the bride, sang "Because" and "At Dawning."
The bride, wearing a street length gown of blue nylon lace over acetate, pink shoes and hat and carring a bouquet of white carnations with white satin streamers, was given in marriage by her father, S. S. Byerly.
Mrs. C. C. Markham of Fowler sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, and James Cook was Mr. Chapman's best man.
Immediately following the wedding a reception was held in the apartment. The reception table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and groom. Reception assistants were Marie Price, cousin of the groom, and , the bride's sister who cut and served the wedding cake. Hellen Byerly and Mary Enos, sister of the bride, served the punch.
Mrs. Chapman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Byerly of Silver Cliff, Colo., is a graduate of Fowler high school. She served for 10 years as chief operator at the Fowler telephone exchange and in May of 1955 transferred to Alamosa.
Mr. Chapman, the son of Mr. James D. Chapman of Manassa is a graduate of Manassa high school.
After a wedding trip to Carlsbad and Albuquerque, New Mexico, the couple are now at home at Rt. 2, box 2, Alamosa.
Because of Illness Mrs. Byerly was unable to attend her daughter's wedding. However, all eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Byerly were present, the first time they had all been together in a number of years. They included Mr. and Mrs. John Byerly and children of Pueblo; Mrs. Jim Enos and Keith of Rocky Ford; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Markham and children of fowler; , Mason City, Ill.; Ben Byerly, Urbana, Ill.; of Canon City, and and son of Mancos.
