↑ Source:Howe, Daniel Wait. Howe Genealogies, p. 251, misidentifies the Melissa Stratton who marries Jacob Howe. There are two marriages found in Rutland for Melissa Stratton, which he apparently was unaware or ignored, but only one birth which he was happy to assume was the one he wanted. It wasn't, as the various sources show, particularly the marriage to Joseph Miles after Jacob Howe died.
