Ira Bullock was born in New Jersey about 1805. Ira bought the south half (100 acres) of lot 35 concession 2 south of Dundas Street in Trafalgar Township from Elizabeth’s sister, Jane and her husband Aaron D. Emory. This lot was on the Trafalgar-Nelson town line. In 1858 they were living in a log cabin near Zimmerman in Nelson Township, Halton County. In 1859 they sold this property to John Lucas and moved to Charlotteville Township in Norfolk County. 1 William Bullock (~1821-) 2 Eliza Bullock Others suggest one daughter named Eliza Jane Bullock (~1832-) 3 Jane Bullock 4 Emma Bullock (~1832-) b Houghton Twp Norfolk Co ON 5 Ambrose Norwood Bullock (1840-)b Nelson Twp m1 Mary Andrews m2 13 Sep 1876 Tillsonburg Oxford ON Emily Eliza McDowell (1853-)b Tillsonburg, Oxford, ON 6 Permilia Bullock (~1842-) 7 Elgin Bruce Bullock (in Mount Vernon Cemetery) 8 Isaac Van Norman Bullock (in Mount Vernon Cemetery) Lenna Minerva Bullock (11 Mar 1863-3 Jul 1929) b Houghton Norfolk, ON d/o Ambrose & Mary Bullock d Tillsonburg (Chronic Myocarditis); m 16 Mar 1881 Tillsonburg Oxford ON (Ontario Marriage Register Oxford Co #8746, 1881) (1901 Census Tillsonburg Norfolk North ON d-3 page 11); Peter Benjamin Cline (24 mar 1852-15 Oct 1813) b Wellington Square Halton ON s/o Wm B. Search for other children of Elizabeth & Ira Bullock: Caroline Phoebe Bullock (~1836-1867). In the 1851 census, Phebe Bullock aged 15 was living with Isaac Van Norman. In the 1861 census, Caroline Bullock was living with Isaac Van Norman. She died in 1867 at 30 years of age. It is likely that Phoebe and Caroline were the same person. H. Langford wrote (History of Mount Vernon Cemetery) that Caroline was a daughter of Ellinor and Anson Bullock. Anson was a Trafalgar farmer who in 1851 had 4 daughters and one son named William. Anson may have been a brother of Ira Bullock. There is no evidence that Ira and Aaron were related to J. Bullock who kept a tavern at Bullock's corbners (J. Bullock tavern keeper and lumber merchant, near Flamborough mills, Dundas. Source: Canada Directory of Professional and Business Men, Montreal: John Lovell, 1851, p. 74) |
