  2.   Note: Source:Representative Men and Old Families of Southeastern Massachusetts, Vol. 2, p. 967, says Rachel Hollis, d/o Thomas Hollis and Rachel Wachusett, b. 1739, married Howland Cowen. This is probably blindly copied from Source:Davis, William T. Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth, p. 136, which says the same thing. That this is impossible is clear by looking at the dates involved. Howland would be 20 years younger than this Rachel, she would have been 40 at time of marriage, and she would have been having children past 60. Rather, it is suspected the bride was Rachel Hollis, d/o John Hollis and Alithea White, who was born in 1761 in Braintree.
