  2. My dad's aunt Martha was married to "Governor" Knight. They used to come visit my dad's family, in Danielsville. This Martha Harper is not the spouse listed in the census of 1880, as she married Horatio in 1889. He is listed as a widower, in that marriage record. Martha's father was also a merchant, of slate, in Manhattan. He died there, in 1883. As far as I know, Martha and Horatio had no children. I do not remember my dad mentioning any of Martha's children, who would have been his cousins. She was the stepmother of Horatio's two children, via his wife who had died prior. My dad did mention an Alice and a Frank, a few times. As Horatio was already deceased by the time my dad was born, he never met Horatio. It is Frank, Alice, and Martha, who he was referring to in his story of "Governor Knight".

Martha's parents are Henry William Harper (circa 1829-1830, to February 28, 1883) and Mary Davison (Davidson) / Harper (September 30, 1834 to March 25, 1913).
