    Herbert H. Renwick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley R. Renwick of Sycamore, was recently awarded a registered professional engineer's certificate, after passing a test given by the Department of Registration and Education in Chicago.

    To be eligible for this test, a college graduate must pass a prelimlnary examination and then work in an approved field for four years.

    Renwick attended Sycamore Schools and Northern Illinois University in DcKalb before transferring to the University af New Mexico, from which he was graduated in 1952 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is now employed as a design engineer for the state of Illinois division of highways.

    Marriage vows were exchanged on August 12 by Harley Renwick of Sycamore and <living> of Albuquerque, New Mexico in a picturesque garden wedding which took place at the large ranch home of the bride's parents in Hope, N.M. Mr. Renwick is the son of the Harley Renwicks (sic) of Sycamore and his bride the former <living> is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. <living.> They are residing in Albuquerque, N. M. where Mr. Renwick is attending the University of New Mexico. He is majoring in Civil Engineering.

    Herbert H. Renwick Sr., 80, of Sun City, Huntley, formerly of Elgin passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born December 23, 1928 in Sycamore, IL the son of Harley and Jane Renwick. He was a graduate of Sycamore High School andreceived his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He had been a resident of Elgin for over 45 years moving to Huntley in 2007. He had been employed by the State of Illinois as a Professional Engineer for 20 years and then he established Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick Inc. in Elgin where he worked until retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the APWA, the NMRA and a member of the Elgin American Legion Post 57. Surviving are his wife, Billye Renwick whom he married on August 12, 1950; a son, Herb and his wife, Deb Renwick of Kingston; two grandchildren, Chase and Megan Renwick. He was preceded in death by his parents Graveside services will held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 19 at Mayfield Cemetery, Mayfeld Township. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Railroad Club at Sun City.
