Bio: Mary J. Brightwell, 83, of San Diego, died May 14. Born in Dawson, New Mexico and raised in Denver, Colorado, she moved to San Diego with her family in 1942. In 1948 she married Haskell Brightwell. They shared a love of dancing and enjoyed a very social life together. He preceded her in death in 1975. Mary started working at General Dynamics Convair during WWII as an aircraft painter and continued until 1958 when her daughter was born. At the age of 45 she received her degree in nursing and worked at UCSD Medical Center for several years and then became a private care nurse. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Wade and son-in-law Steve Wade of El Cajon and several nieces and nephews. Known for her warm heart and infectious laugh, Mary will be dearly missed. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, at 11am, at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, in the Salli Lynn Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, North Park Senior Nutrition Center, 2320 5th Ave., San Diego, CA 92101 Published in U-T San Diego on May 20, 2005
