Know all men by these presents that we Grifeth Garten & James Miller are held and firmly bound unto Edmond Randolph Esqr. governor of Virginia in the Just and full sum of fifty pounds to which payment well and Truly to be made toour said governour his Heirs or Successors so to bind ourselves our Heirs & C Jointly and severly formly by these presents seal with our seals and dated this 13th Sept 1787.

The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Griffeth Garten has this day obtained licence to marry Hanna Miller if there be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force & Virtue.Willam Garten SealJames Miller
