CHASE, Hannah, and George Nowell [Newell. int.], Sept. 14, 1786.
↑Source:Chase, John Carroll. Seven Generations of the Descendants of Aquila and Thomas Chase, p. 70, says Hannah, d/o John b. 1763, m. (1) 14 Sep 1786 George Nowell/Newell before marrying Henry Merrill. But that Hannah is named Hannah Chase in her father's will of 1804 and also when she married 1824 [not 1834] Henry Merrill, so it must have been a different Hannah Chase that married George Nowell. A Mrs. Hannah Nowell died in Newburyport 1833 age 67, so born about 1766, if that is her.
Essex deed Vol. 161, p. 52 26 Jan 1795: George Nowell of Newburyport Mariner & Hannah Nowell wife of said George for £36-15-0 convey to Samuel Coffin of Newburyport all real estate in Newburyport which fell to Hannah by her late Father Stephen Chase & her Mother Prudence Chase. [Note that this couple married 1769 and no birth record of a daughter Hannah is found, nor does the probate file (Essex Probate 5181) contain a list of heirs, nor is such a daughter known of by the above source (see p. 147). She probably would have had to have been the first child born to this couple based on her marriage date.]
