"Be it Remembered that on the twenty third day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty George Goodel and July Ann Dodge of the County of Portage were legally joined in marriage by competent authority, in conformity to the provisions of the statutes of the State of Ohio, in such cases made and provided; and a certificate of such marriage, signed by F. A. Crane Esq a Justice of the Peace who solemnized the same has been filed in the office of the Clerk of the Court of common pleas, for said County of Portege, this seventeen day of September Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and forty."
