The identification of Gedediah Willis as the father of Smith Willis is largely conjecture. J. Anthony Guffy, a Smith Willis research, traced Smith to eastern Pennsylvania, and linked him to Gedediah based on the fact that he didn't find any other Willis in the immediate area.
