- ↑ Fred and Gladys married during the first world war. He was 27, a private in the North Staffs regiment and on active service. He described his father as a chartered accountant (deceased). Gladys was a clerk, aged 23, now spelling her name as Gwladys Frere (she was Gladys Freer). Her father was described as a manager - he was still in the shoe trade - and lived at 5, Morley Road, Leicester. The witnesses were Chas. H. Frere and Ernest Wm. King. The vicar was E. KInlock Jones.
