Francis Robinson served four, two month tours during the American Revolution after which time, 1782 - 1788, he resided in Spotsylvania and Stafford counties. In the fall of 1788 the new family moved to Orange County, Virginia. In 1817 an extended family consisting of at least Robinson and Thompson individuals moved to Boone County, Kentucky and in November 1818 they settled in Harrison County, Kentucky where they remained for the rest of their lives.
