On 14 October 1659, 'Evane Thomas of Bostone, vintner, being (if it please God) to marry the widow Alee Kirtland of Lynn, do engage to & agree with the abovesaid Kirtland not to sell or alienate her now dwelling house and land & appurtenances thereunto belonging lying & being in Lynn, but to leave it to the disposing of the said Kirtland for the good of her children according to the mind of her former husband Kyrtland unless that he the said Even Thomas & the abovesaid widow Kirtland shall so further cause otherways to dispose of it' [ELR 1:66].
