Family:Ernest Cornell and Marie Calkins (1)

In spite of the fact that their son Ernest Nelson Cornell's Social Security file gives his father's name as Peter E Cornell^[3], it appears that his father was Ernest Cornell, who his mother married in 1937. Ancestry Public Trees give his father as Ernest (or Earnest) Guy Cornell. This includes trees with photos of Marie and/or son Ernest^[1][2], presumably created by close family members.

It appears that Ernest and Marie divorced by 1939, as Ernest shows up in the 1940 census with another wife and several children^[4]. Marie was working as a housekeeper and had their son with her in the 1940 census^[5].
