Marriage Bond

The Commonwealth of Kentucky
Be it know that we Elijah B. Ashcraft as principal, and Allen Simmons as surety, are jointly and severally bound to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the sum of One Hundred Dollars.
The condition of this bond is as follows:
That, Whereas, Marriage is intended to be solemnized between the above bound Elijah B. Ashcraft and Miss Nancy C. Simmons.
Now, if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, this bond shall be void, otherwise it will remain in full force and effect.
Dated at Brandenburg, Meade County, Ky., this 3d day of February 1858

To any Minister of the Gospel, or other Person legally authorized to solemnize Matrimony,
You are permitted to solemnize the Rites of Matrimony between Elijah B. Ashcraft (of full age) and Miss Nancy C. Simmons (by consent of father) the requirements of the law having been complied with.
Witness the signature of the Clerk of the Meade County Court, this 3d day of February 1858.
