- ↑ The births of the children in Hartland list the mother as Hannah, but the Waitsfield versions recorded after they moved there record her as Marcy, as does the death record for her. It is believed that the Hartland records originated in a family register, meaning the mother's name was written once at the top, followed by all the childrens' births. It is possible that Elias had a wife Hannah who died and he remarried to Marcy without the name of his new wife getting recorded in the family register, but there is no evidence to support that, and the original records would need to be consulted. Until then, it is assumed this is simply a clerical error and the mother was Marcy.
