Brooklyn Daily Eagle, 25 Apr 1938: PYLE--DURGEE The marriage of Miss Irene Durgee, daughter of Mrs. I.A. Durgee of Syracuse NY, and E. Frederick Pyle of Hampton Bays, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Pyle of Brooklyn, took place Thursday afternoon in the rectory of the Church of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Southampton, with the Rev. George H. Killeen officiating. Miss Durgee, who was attended by Miss Doris Laack of Southampton, wore a blue crepe gown with the same shade of hat trimmed with a short veil of royal blue net. She wore a corsage of white orchids and lilies of the valley. Miss Laack's ensemble was a navy sheer... Thomas Brennen of Flushing was best man. Following the ceremony the wedding party were entertained at Canoe Place Inn, where Mr. Pyle has been assistant manager for some time. A reception was held for the immediate family and close friends at the home of the bridegroom's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Pyle sailed on the Monarch of Bermuda. Upon their return they will reside in Hampton Bays. Mrs. Pyle will continue her teaching in the Southampton Grade School until the end of the school year.

Oswego Palladium-Times, 23 May 1938: PYLE--DURGEE Parish, May 23-- Miss Irene Durgee, daughter of Mrs. Flora Durgee of this place and E. Frederick Pyle of Hampton Bays, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pyle of Brooklyn, were married April 21 at Southampton with the Rev. George H. Killeen officiating. Miss Durgee was gowned in a blue crepe dress with hat to match with a short veil of royal blue net, and wore a corsage of white orchids and lilies of the valley. Her attendant was Miss Doris Laack of Southampton. Thomas Brennen of Flushing L.I. was Mr. Pyle's best man. Following the ceremony the wedding party was entertained at Canoe Place Inn, where the groom has been assistant manager for some time, after which Mr. and Mrs. Pyle motored to his parents' home in Brooklyn where a reception was held for the immediate family and close friends. Mr. and Mrs. Pyle sailed on the Monarch for a ten-day honeymoon in Bermuda. Mrs. Pyle was a graduate of Parish high school and for many years has taught in the grade school at Southampton. On their return from Bermuda they will make their home in Hampton Bays where a furnished home awaits them.
