History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts, from 1639 to 1800, p. 270, adds three children: Polly b. 1772, Esther b. 1774, and Elisha b. 1776. The birth records in Newton list the parents of these children as Edward and Esther, and since the births don't align with the records of Holliston, Edward and Esther appear to be a different couple, despite Jackson's obvious assumption otherwise. All three births are marked as coming from the "Town copy with additions", which for Newton, means added by a committed that reviewed the town record in 1853, and often means they match data found in Jackson's History of Newton without ever being found in the original records.
