Edmund Bushnell married "Horsham 2 August 1627 Martha Hallor [Bushnell Anc 2]. She married (2) by 1644 William Beamsley of Boston, whom she survived [GMB 1:141]."

"In 1898 and 1899 William T.R. Marvin and then R.D. Smyth made preliminary, unsatisfactory attempts at organizing the New England data on the Bushnell family [NEHGR 52:446-48,53:208-14]. In 1918 J. Gardner Bartlett prepared a detailed account of the English origin of the Bushnell family, including Francis Bushnell, his parents and siblings, most of whom came to New England [Bushnell Anc 1-13]. In 1931 Mary Walton Ferris published a line of descent from the elder Francis Bushnell, concentrating on his son William; she was unaware of the work of Bartlett, and so went astray on a number of points [Dawes Gates 2:162-72]. In 1939 Herbert F. Seversmith published entries from the parish register of Horsham, Sussex, pertaining to this Bushnell family; he also was ignorant of Bartlett's earlier work [TAG 16:45-49, 17:31-32]. Seversmith refers to the published version of the Horsham registers, being volume 21 of the publications of the Sussex Record Society, issued in 1915, and this may also have been the source used by Bartlett."
