  3. Elizabeth Boynton was born 1721 in Charlestown to Isaac and Elizabeth (Taylor) Boynton (maiden name unknown in Source:Boynton, John Farnham. Boynton Family, p. 58, but given as Taylor by Source:Thwing, Annie Haven. Inhabitants and Estates of the Town of Boston, 1630-1800, and the Crooked and Narrow Streets of Boston, 1630-1822). Source:Encyclopedia of Massachusetts, Biographical - Genealogical, Vol. 11, p. 172, says it was "probably" the daughter that married Ebenezer Knight. But Dorchester records show the marriage of one Elizabeth Boynton in 1740 to Joseph Woodward, and another in 1742 to Ebenezer Knight. Which is daughter and which is mother? Ebenezer and Elizabeth had one son, named Taylor. Was this the daughter using her mother's maiden name, or the mother using her own maiden name? Isaac Boynton died 1737/38, the mother is closer to Ebenezer's age, but would be reaching the end of her child-bearing years. More research is needed.
