  2. Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 89, misreads the birth of Eliphaz Eager as Elizabeth, and matches the fictitious Elizabeth she creates with Dean Lincoln. Eliphas'z father, John, had a wife named Betsey. No death record is found for John Eager, though one unreliable source (Source:Munsell, Frank. American Ancestry, Vol. 11, p. 231) says he died in Boylston in 1814. No such record or probate has been found, and as it says his father Solomon Eager d. in Boylston when the correct location was Royalston, this does not appear carefully researched. So, more research is needed to refute or confirm this unsubstantiated claim about John's death. If true, it would allow the widow to possibly be the Elizabeth Eager who married Dean Lincoln.
The 1820 census shows Dean Lincoln's wife was over 45, while he was not, so she was older than Dean and born before 1775. This fits. However, the 1830 census shows Dean as 50 to 60 and his wife as only 40 to 50. There is a remarriage in Vermont in 1822 to a Damaris Bond for Dean Lincoln of Chesterfield, NH. Since Betsey Eager was buried in 1841 as "wife of John Ager" this appears to rule her out as a possibility.
Source:Kaye, Ruth Lincoln. Thomas Lincoln of Taunton, and Joseph Kellogg of Hadley, and 144 Related Colonial Families, p. 341, suggests she is a widow, presumably an assumption based on the "Mrs." in the intentions. This is probable, but that title could also be used for an older woman who had yet to marry. This source has no other indication of who the second wife was.
