    ... Dr. David Walker and wife, Phebe Finley, came from Rockingham County, Virginia, in 1826, a practicing physician ; was the first County Clerk of LaSalle County. Dr. Walker and his numerous family was a large element in the settlement and business of Ottawa during its early history. He died in 1835.
