↑ Source:Leonard, Ermina Newton. Newton Genealogy, p 203, identifies David's wife as d/o Benjamin Lawrence and Jane Russell, b. Westborough 20 Aug 1737, d. Southborough 19 Oct 1816 as "widow Newton". This is an error. The will of Benjamin Lawrence in 1767 (Worcester Probate 36433) calls Submit b. 1739 his eldest daughter, and the death of older sister Abigail in 1746-7 is found in Bolton VRs, confirming that. So David's wife is some other Abigail Lawrence. Which widow Newton died in 1816 is an open question, since presumably that was applied based on the age matching the 1737 birth of the wrong Abigail Lawrence. It appears that Abigail probably died before 1791, when David deeds his property to son Obediah (worcester Deeds vol. 112, p. 290) reserving use for himself and two daughters Abigail and Sarah, but never mentioning a wife.
