Hi all, The Harwell name is in my line, They were in the Brunswick Co area, I have a Sarah, Harwell(Hartwell) who married a William Rideout who was also from Brunswick Co. Their daughter Jane Rideout married my William Lanier. I also think he is from the Sampson line, but haven't found the connection. Other Rideout marriages to the Lanier's in Greenville, Brunswick Co areas occurred, which make me believe they were cousins. Here are some marriage notes: Sarah E. Rideout born 1842 married Wesley Lanier Dec. 21, 1864, son of Richard and Sally Lanier. ......... Elizabeth Rideout married David Lanier 10 April 1813 (Brunswick Co.VA.). She is daughter of Wm. Rideout. John Rideout married Mary Lanier 3/15/1800 (March 15, 1800 Brunswick Co.VA.). David Lanier, and Mary Lanier are in the Sampson-Thomas Lanier -Ann Maclin line. Brunswick co.
Here is the Rideout-Hartwell connection: William Rideout married Sarah Harvell 10/19/1796 (Oct. 19, 1796, Sarah Harwell, Brunswick Co.VA.). Sarah's name was Hartwell. Also if you go to this page in Wayne Lanier's mindspring website, you'll find all three families in the Sampson line, Lanier, Rideout and Harwell. a David Lanier married a Frances Harwell.
