  3. This is reported in NEHGR, p. 87:327, "Descendants of William Chase" as 20 May 1780. The original handwritten record appears to be a "26", but the slash separating it from the year could explain how it could be misinterpreted by this source. (The record two lines below seems to offer an example, useful for comparison. The sixes tend to be large, the zeroes small.)

This article assigns to both David and Salome the death date of 24 Feb 1828, without any comment to show it was cognizant of the oddity of this. Source:McCourt, Martha F. American Descendants of Henry Luce of Martha's Vineyard, p. 440, interprets this as "one of them died on 24 Feb 1828". This date comes from David's gravestone, there is no sign it applies to Salome.
  4. The coverage of this marriage by Source:Randall, Eunice Kelley Gidley. David O'Killia the Immigrant of Old Yarmouth, Massachusetts with His Descendants and Allied Families, 1652-1962 is a travesty of errors.

Regarding the date of marriage, this work gives on p. 65, "Mar. 21, 1780", but on both p. 58 and p. 101, uses the meaningless "Mar. 20, 1779/80". Presumably 20 Mar 1780 is intended?

Regarding the participants, the three pages mentioning the marriage all involve David Chase b. 26 Apr 1759. On p. 58 and on p. 101, he married Salome, d/o Benjamin, b. 1764. But p. 65, he married Salome, d/o Stephen, b. 1759. All three pages list the same set of children.
