In the 1851 census the family are living at Hill house, but their children shown on the 1841 census do not appear with them. Son Daniel, age 15, is a house servant for Henry Marston, gardener and grazier and family at Hill House, Enderby. Harriett, age 14, is a nurse maid for Richard Screeton, bricklayer, and his wife Eliza, (who is listed on the census as a butter merchant), also at Hill House. They have a baby daughter, Mary. In 1861, Charles age 14 and Edwin age 11 are both farmers boys.
