This is identified as the son of Nathaniel because of a record in Brookfield, p. 172: "PATTEN, William, grand-s. Nathaniel, bp. Feb. 3, 1766. CR1", and a record in Tyringham, p. 103:"PATTEN, ---, w. Nathaniel, [died] Nov. 29, 1773. CR", which combined with the marriage and the births recorded in Tyringham, suggests as much.
