    I. CHRISTOPHER MORGAN (2. of II. page 118 above), m. (1st) Deborah, niece of Col. William Ledyard, who commanded Fort Griswold at Groton at its capture by Arnold, and was killed by the British officer to whom he surrendered his sword, who thrust the sword into Col. Ledyard's breast. Another uncle and a brother also perished in the massacre which followed ; m. (2nd) Mary [sic] Gates.
