  2.   This marriage record misidentifies Susan's parents. It appears that possibly the groom was not properly acquainted with his in-laws yet? Evidence cited on the various associated pages indicates that Susan was Susan Colby Atwood, d/o Thomas Atwood and Sarah Maxfield, b. Wilmot 1820, to parents born in Bradford. These details were apparently mis-communicated when the marriage license was applied for (plus Susan's birth record lists the mother as Polly). But records later in life such as census data (1900 census: born Oct 1820, 2 children, 1 living, matching Isaac and Susan Chickering's children exactly), marriage of siblings (especially marriage of George Washington Atwood, also b. to Thomas and Polly Atwood, but marriage lists parents Thomas and Sarah Atwood, death lists parents as Thomas Atwood and Sarah Maxfield), and deaths of children (death of Julia Ann (Chickering) Shirley lists parents as Isaac Chickering and Sarah Atwood), all seems to support the arrangement given, not the marriage record.
