Charles and Amelia Van Duzen (as told by their Great-Great Grandson, Robert Harry Schultz):

Charles Martin Van Duzen and Amelia (Grossman) Bersenbrugge were married on 07 Aug 1878 at Hamilton County, Ohio. They had two children; a daughter Katherine and a son Abram (whom they called "Bud"). Amelia was also step-mother to Harrie Warren Van Duzen, Charles' son by his deceased first wife, Mary B. (Wilson) Van Duzen. Harrie was only 6 years old when his mother died of tuberculosis and 13 years old when his father remarried.

Charles worked as a pattern maker in Newport, KY and also with his older brother Ezra, who owned and operated the Buckeye Bell Foundry/E.W. Van Duzen Company in Cincinnati. Charles built two neighboring homes on Main Street in Clifton (now South Newport), KY, one of which is now owned and occupied by his great-great grandson.

When Charles died of tuberculosis in 1906, Amelia purchased a large family plot at Spring Grove Cemetery, Section 71, Lot 10. She had Charles' first wife removed from the family plot of her brother-in-law (Benjamin Cadwell Van Duzen, Sr.) and reinterred next to Charles. She also had his son Andrew and his infant daughter Maryella moved to the family plot, both of whom were origially buried in Section 29 of Spring Grove.
