Permission for Samuel Arbuckle's ward's marriage: "Franklin County October 19th Day, 1798. Sir: please to grant Leave for Charles Leathers and Nancy Arbuckle to be Married Where unto I have given my Consent and set [?] my hand. Samuel <his mark> Arbuckle gardien."
Wits: Edmond Hogan, C. Bussey. Bond: Charles Leathers, Ed. Hogan.
NOTE: Samuel may have been Nancy's uncle. He was not her father. He had six daughters (including one named "Nancy," who is otherwise accounted for), but this Nancy wasn't one of them. Samuel had a brother, John, about whom not much is known, but he apparently died relatively young, which would account for Nancy being under the guardianship of an uncle.
