News Item w/picture LOCAL COUPLE MARK 50TH ANNIVERSAY Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Hosler of Portage la Prairie, formerly of the Neepawa and Minnedosa districts, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, January 27, at the home of their son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Holser at Arden with a buffet style dinner for members of the family and a few close friends. Mr. and Mrs. Hosler were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCallum of the Eden district on January 31, 1918. Mr. and Mrs. McCallum were the attendants with Rev Martin performing the ceremony, Mrs. Hosler is the former Elizabeth Bolton, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bolton of Glenella. A three tiered wedding cake made and decorated by their daughter, Mrs. F.N. Hall of Killarney enhanced the center of the bride's table. Alvin Reily proposed a toast to the bride and groom of fifty years, to which both responded. A telegram was read by Mr. Reilly, from their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hosler of Red Deer, Alta. Letters from the Rt. Honorable Lester B. Person, Hon. Walt Weir, premier of Manitoba, Lt. Gov. R.S. Bowles and Mrs. Bowles, A.R. Paulley, M.L.A., Giil Molgat, M.L.A., Nelson Shoemaker and Mayor W. A. Linden of Portage were also read by Mr. Reilly. Guests numbered 39 and included: Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Marion) Allanson, Charlene and Laura; Marie and John Hobbs of Roblin; Mr. and Mrs. F.N. (Helen) Hall, Eayton and Helen; Mr. and Mrs. Eayton Hall of Killarney; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hosler, Carla, Kevin and Clinton of Regina; Mrs. Russell Hosler, June and Beverley; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hosler and Onalee and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Huddleston all of Portage la Prairie; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bolton of Flin Flon; Mrs. Mary Bolton, Mrs. Bertha Hosler and Alvin Reilly of Neepawa and Mr. and Mrs. M.C. McKinnon of Arden. Unable to attend were their eldest daughter, Mrs. Colin (Rosaline) McLean of B.C.; Mr. Ivan Hosler (their eldest son) of Red Deer, Alta, and Russell Hosler of Portage la Prairie, Man. Mr. and Mrs. Hosler have eight children living and twenty-two grandchildren. Open House was held on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 2-5 p.m. but due to the storm very few attended.
