  1. Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 145, gives Benjamin two wives, Luriah and Tirziah, based on two different misreadings of Zurviah, the alternate spelling for Zerviah that is used in the Warwick records. There is clearly a "v" in the name, and it doesn't appear to change, so it is not clear how she thought there were two different names. Sarah's birth is recorded in three places with the exact same date, providing documentation connecting the family in Sutton, to the one in Warwick, to the one in Dummerston, Vt.
  2. Based on naming the second daughter Lydia (first daughter Sarah is named after Benjamin's mother), one might speculate that Zerviah is Zerviah Goodenow, d/o Jonathan Goodenow and Lydia Rice of Marlborough, b. 10 Jun 1742. There is no marriage record, and no evidence of this, but Ward's Rice Family, p. 79, and other sources (e.g., History of Marlborough, p. 373), seem to know nothing about what happened to this Zerviah, and she is an appropriate age.
