No marriage records have been located. A January 6, 1818 return of Daniel Owen, guardian of the orphans of James Ballard deceased, reflects a payment on behalf of Lucy Ballard, dated December 30, 1810, to "Benjamin Hill legal representative of Lucy Ballard, now Lucy Hill", suggesting they were married before December, 1810. However, other returns of Daniel Owen, as guardian, as well as his predecessor, indicate that payments continued to be made by the guardian directly on be of Lucy Ballard, as late as 1816.
