    BARNABUS GRIFFITH
    Died in Evansville, Wis., March 22 1887, of paralysis, Barnabus Griffith in the seventy-ninth year of his age. Mr. Griffith was born in Sharlotte, Chautauqua Co., N.Y. February 29, 1808. There he married his first wife, Miss Betsy Smith in 1828. In the fall of 1845, they moved to this state, settling in the town of Porter, about three miles from the ?ey den house, where he has since resided, until three years ago when he moved to the village of Evansville. His first wife died in the fall of 1846 and he married Mrs. Harriet Morris, who died in 1854. In 1855 he married Mrs. Mary Gibbs of Janesville, who survives him. Mr. Griffith was the father of fifteen children, nine of whom, Edwin, Colorado; Orlando, Ezra and Frank, of Porter; E. ? of Milton Junction; Frederick, of Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Josiah Darling, of Dakota, Leonard, of Evansville; and Miss Edith, of Evansville, are alive to mourn his death. Mr. Griffith was an upright, honored citizen of the town of Porter, where he held the office of justice of the peace, for a number of years. About a year ago he received a stroke of paralysis from the effects of which he never recovered, but was a constant sufferer until on Sunday, the 20th, second stroke came, which caused his death on Tuesday morning. He was buried in the town of Porter. The Rev. ?and Cie?nd, of the United Brethren church officiating. Five of his sons and one grandson acted as pall bearers. The funeral was very largely attended.
