    After a lengthy illness a well-known respected citizen in the person of Mrs. Eliza Hartwig passed from this life on Wednesday night September 19th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Yourth and Mr. Yourth. The deceased was born in Stafford Ont., on Dec 30th 1869 and was in her 82nd year. She was a daughter of the late Mary Doerring and Matthues Layman. On May 27th 1897 she was united in marriage to Herman Hartwig who predeceased her 17 years ago since which time she made her home with her family. Also four brothers and one sister predeceased her. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Miss Mary Layman of Stafford and four daughters, Mrs. McLeod, Mary Ann of Alexandria; Mrs. George Yourth, Isobelle, of Golden Lake; Mrs. Herbert Kuehl, Amanda of North Bay and Mrs. Norman Layman, Mae, Golden Lake. Also two sons Andrew and Don Hartwig of Killaloe. Two stepsons Ernest and Alex also of Killaloe. One daughter Minnie predeceased her. There are 38 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren who mourn the loss of a grandmother.
    The funeral was held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from her late residence wiht (sic) service in the Evangelical U.B. church of which she was a faithful member when health permitted her to attend. Service was in charge of the pastor, Rev. A. M. Schlenker assisted in the home and church by Rev. Weisser of Calvary Baptist church, Killaoe. Interment was made in the Baptist cemetery in Killaloe.
    Pall bearers were Messrs. Mervin, Donal and Glenden Hartwig, Messrs. Reginald and Bud Kuehl.
    Flowerbearers were Mrs. Ernie Junnop, Mrs. Fred Neuman, Miss Muriel Hartwig, Miss Ella Mae Hartwig, Mrs. Reginald Kuehl and Mrs Bud Kuehl.
