Asa Marsh of Douglas and Whately, s/o Joseph, m. abt. 1749 "Melissa Wheeler or 'Millicent Woodstock' (?)".
[The Wheeler sources have no information on a marriage for Millicent, so this approaches the issue from the other direction. But, obviously, this source did not have access to records, and apparently deduced the candidate wives. Unfortunately, the logic of their deduction was not explained. The birth records of their children in Douglas all say "Milison" and other manglings of Millicent, so the basis of "Melissa" are unclear, as is the basis of "Woodstock". In the absence of this information, we can only point to the eldest son being named Jonathan, and the marriage record citedS1, to suggest that whatever basis there was for these other guesses appears invalid.]
