Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Altoona First Baptist Church for Nathan Nix, 74, Altoona, who died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003. Dr. Howard Jenkins and the Rev. Ray Nichols will officiate. Burial in Altoona-Walnut Grove Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing. Mr. Nix was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Altoona and a deacon of the Altoona First Baptist Church. Mr. Nix was owner and operator of Nix Parts and Service for 44 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vertie and Authur Nix; sister, Kathryn; and brother, Etha. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Nix, Altoona; son, Phillip (Kayron) Nix, Altoona, Mark (Cindy) Nix, Trussville, David Nix, Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jonathan (Gena) Nix, Gadsden, DeAnna Nix, Altoona, Joel Nix, Trussville, Jacob Nix, Trussville; great-granddaughter, Taylor Brooke Nix, Altoona; and sister, June Chaviers, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Blount County or John Croyle's Big Oak Ranch. Special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Baptist Medical Center Montclair, Hospice of Blount County, Dr. Windsor and Dr. Colvan. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service today at Altoona First Baptist Church.
