- ↑ No marriage record, nor any other children born to "Artemas and Abigail Haws" (named as parents in this Artemas' marriage record) have been located. Abigail Shepardson lived with Artemas for many years (several censuses) before her death, including time when he had no wife, causing her to be identified as Artemas' mother (e.g., by Allred, p. 136). Abigail Shepardson married John Shepardson as Abigail Lawrence 11 years after Artemas was born, which occurred when she was 18. So if Abigail Shepardson was indeed Artemas' mother, she does not appear to have been married to Artemas Haws? The father appears to be Artemas Haws of Petersham, who apparently died 1820 unmarried without children as the small remainder of his estate went to his mother Lois and brothers and sisters (Worcester 28354)?
