Graveside services will be at noon Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery for Ruby L. Battles, 80, Reece City, who died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004. Village Chapel Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Battles was preceded in death by her sons, Archie Chastain and Louis S. Scott; parents, Ernest and Mae Nix; and sister, Ernestine Freeman. She is survived by her husband, Deard Battles, Reece City; daughters-in-law, Pat Chastain, Attalla, and Julia Scott, Gadsden; great-grandchildren, Danny and Dewayne Chastain, Gadsden, and Joseph Scott Lee, Southside; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Maron Moody, Eddie Davis, Stoney Battles, Jim Kilgore, Scott Aaron and Butch Aaron. Special thanks to nurses and staff of seventh and ninth floors of Gadsden Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service at the funeral home.
