"A pretty wedding was celebrated yesterday at the residence of the bride's mother, Richmond Street, the contracting parties being Mr Andrew McWatters, fourth son of Mr Wm. McWatters, Walker Street, and Miss Kate Helen (Nellie), second daughter of the late A. F. Whitaker, Esq., of Maryborough. About fifty guests, nearly all relations of the bride and bridegroom, were present. The dining room in which the ceremony took place was prettily decorated with flowers and greenery, and a floral bell was suspended from the ceiling over the heads of the wedding party. The Rev A. Hutchinson performed the ceremony. The bride was given away by her brother (Mr Alf Whitaker), and her sister (Miss Matilda Whitaker) was bridesmaid. Mr Fred Brooks supported the bridegroom as best man. The happy couple left in the afternoon to spend their honeymoon at Pialba. A large number of young people were entertained at night by Mrs Whitaker, the bride's mother."
