    Amos Ward & Sally Burnet Dec'r 5: 1795.
[Note: this should say 1794 based on 3 different considerations: First, it appears recorded on in a group of marriages followed by chronological intentions starting June 1795, suggesting it was written spring 1795, and follows out of order a Feb 1795 marriage, suggesting it was Dec 1794 but accidentally written or copied to this record as 1795 as a result of confusion caused by it being out of order. Second, the first daughter's birth is recorded in Orange in Nov 1795 which would precede the marriage if the date is correct. Third, the intention: Vol. 1, p. 125: Amos Ward of Oringe and Sally Burnet of Warwick Intend marriage may 3: 1794.]

  2. In 1817, it is requested that a guardian be appointed for Amos Ward, who "does by Excessive drinking, so spend, waste, and lessen his Estate, as thereby to expose himself and his family to want and suffering". In 1828, his guardian petitions for appointment of a guardian for his minor children: Archibald over fourteen, and Medelay under fourteen. As there is no birth record found for the Archibald mentioned here, but there is a birth record for Alexander who is not mentioned here, we cannot tell if Archibald is distinct from Alexander. They could be the same child; or Alexander could have died, and Archibald is another child, born say 1810. No further record has been located that can conclusively be identified as either one.
