    Alexos AUCOIN, widower of Francoise HENNRY (parents not given, but were Acadians), married on 8 Jan 1799 to Ana DUGAT, daughter of Joseph & Anastasia VARIAUX [BARILLOT], Acadians. Witnesses: Joseph AUCOIN; Francisco HEBERT; Simon GUILLOT. Recorded at Assumption Catholic Church, Plattenville, LA (ASM-2, 39).

    This was 8 days before the dispensation for consanguinity was requested from New Orleans.

    Letter dated 16 Jan 1799 to Bishop (Luis Penalver y Cardenas of New Orleans) from Alexo AUCOINT asking dispensation from second and third degree relationship in order to marry Ana DUGA. "Aucoint, a native of St. Malo and resident of Valenzuela, widower of Fran(cis)ca Henry wishes to marry Ana Duga, native of Nantes and resident of Valenzuela." Their relationship is defined. "Aucoint has two children by his first marriage, one 4 and one 2½. It is impossible for him to attend to them and to his work. Since nearly all in the parish are Aadians nearly all are related. Father (Isidro) Quintero notes at the beginning of the letter that Aucoint appeared." He said he was 35 and unmarried. Also appearing was Pedro OCOINT, age 36, and signed his name as Pierre AuCOIN. Also appearing was Simon GUILLOT, age 27. Penalver grated the dispensation under certain conditions of confession and prayer. Quintero adds that he notified AUCOINT and sent word to the pastor of Valenzuela.

    Jan 16, 1799--Alexo AUCOINT requests dispensation to marry Ana DUGA. They are related in the 2nd and 3rd grades. He is age 35, native of St. Malo and resident of Valenzuela, single, widower of Francisca HENRRY, the son of Jose AUCOINT & Maria Josefa HEBERT, daughter of Juan HEBERT & Clara DUGA, daughter of Jose DUGA & Clara BURQUE. Ana DUGA is a native of Nantes, and resident of Valenzuela, the daughter of Anastacia BARRIOX & Jose DUGA, son of Maria HEBERT & Jose DUGA, son of the other Jose DUGA & Clara BURQUE.
    Alexo has two children by his 1st marriage, one 4 and one 2½. It is impossible to attend them and work. Since nearly all are Acadians, mostly all in the parish are related.
    Witnesses: Pedro AUCOINT, age 36 (signs Pierre AuCOIN); Simon GUILLOT, age 27. Dispensation granted.
