WHATSON — SHOESMITH.
Oh Wednesday last. Mr. Albert Whatson, junr., son of Mr. Albert Whatson, senr., of Jones' Island, and Miss Emma Louisa Shoesmith, daughter of Mr. Alfred Shoosmitb, also of Jones' Island, were united in matrimony by the Rev. T. Northcott, in the Jones' Island Methodist Church. The ceremony was an interesting one, there being a very large attendance of relatives and friends to witness it, including some from Laurieton. After the event quite a procession of vehicles was formed from the church to the residence of the bride's parents, where 160 guests sat down to the wedding breakfast, which had been very bountifully and nicely prepared, and laid out in a large marquee erected near the house. The toast of the " Bride and Bridegroom" was proposed by Mr. T. Dykes, J.P., in eulogistic terms, and was supported in the same strain by Mr. Alex. Perrett, J.P., and the Rev. T. Northcott, to whioh the bridegroom suitably responded. The toast of the "Parents of the Bride and Bridegroom" was also duly honored, and was re- sponded to by Messrs. Whatson and Shoesmith. The presents were numerous and costly, testifying to the popularity of the young couple. Mr. H. H. Kirton, of Taree, took photos, of the newly-married couple, and a group with the bride and bridegroom, their parents, the bridesmaids and the best man ; and also one of Mr. and Mrs. Shoesmith, who were married about a fortnight ago.
