  2.   Source:Daniel Hovey Association. Hovey Book, p. 112, does not identify Mary Faulkner, but also is unaware of the marriage record so only indicates a marriage before 1793. This late of a marriage estimate may have caused some websites to make incorrect speculations (one estimated the birth of Mary Faulkner to be about 1773 based on the 1793 marriage).
The "Mrs." in the church record might suggest a widow, but that title was not used consistently to mean that until the 1800s. One source here identifies her as Mary Poor, who m. Abial Faulkner who d. 1756. It seems unlikely that she would wait 19 years to remarry, and in any event, the will of Thomas Poor in 1778 refers to her as Mary Faulkner [Essex Probate 22390], suggesting she was not the woman of the marriage record.
Joseph Faulkner had a daughter Mary, b. 1736/37. By 1775 she might be old enough to consider marrying an older widower. Even though he did not die until 1781, Joseph's will was written in 1765 explicitly describing his daughter as unmarried [Essex Probate 9314]. There is no listing of heirs in the probate file so we cannot tell if she might have married in the interim between the writing and proving of the will.
