The Allis genealogy, p. 37, states that "Abel Allis was a farmer in Whatley and Conway, Mass., and had six children by his second wife." The Conway vital records have "Abel (Allis), [died] suddenly, Apr. 3, 1804, a. 63. [Feb. 3, G.R.4. (Cricket Hill Cemetery]." Lucretia's Allis husband could not have been this man since her youngest child by her Abel Allis was born in 1809. Her Abel may have lived for a time in Whatley, but most of his adult life appears, from various secondary sources, to have been in Manchester, Vermont, where he was styled doctor and pharmacist, and was active in the establishment of the Protestant Episcopal church there."
