13 Feb 1809 Burnett, Thomas & Jeremiah Burnett of the District of Abbeville to William Quarles of Edgefield District ... Whereas Thomas Burnette late of the said District during his life died possessed of an absolute estate in fee simple to a certain tract of land lying in the said District on both sides of Chavous Creek containing 535 acres more or less did on or about the 15th day of October 179? die intestate leaving the said Thomas Burnett and Jeremiah Burnett, two of his heirs at law who by such death and intestacy become entitled (each) to one undivided Shear in the said tract - each one seventh part and the said William Quarles has contracted with the said Thomas & Jeremiah Burnett to purchase same. Deed Bk 30 p. 435 [This Thomas Burnett born abt. 1752 in VA died 15 Oct 1796 South Carolina s/o Thomas & Alice (Cave?) Burnett. His wife was Mary Quarles b. 1776 in Amelia Co. VA died 1800 Edgefield District d/o Richard & Frances (Powell) Quarles? - given her age difference with Thomas (if all this is correct) one would suppose she was a second or third wife?)

1815 Deed of Gift from Burnett, Jeremiah of Edgefield District in consideration of the love and good will I have for my children namely Elizabeth Hastings, Jeremiah, Thomas, Isaac, Katharine, William, Hezekiah, Robert and Anthony and by these presents voluntarily given bequeathed to them the following property namely six negroes viz Sarah, Abram, Poll, Hall, Sam & Charles, also seven hundred acres of land namely three hundred which I brought from my brother Sanders Burnett, two hundred acres being part of a tract of three hundred acres which I bought from John Addams, one hundred acres which I bought of George Slater, one hundred acres which I bought of Henry Strum -- the above mentioned propery is to remain in my possession until my Death unless I think proper to give it or any part of it up sooner. immediately following the above on p. 167 - Deed of Gift by Jeremiah Burnett of Edgefield distric for the love and good will which I have for my daughter Lurana I have by these presents given and bequeathed unto the said Lurana Burnett one negro woman named Phillis and her Encrease which said negro is to remain in my possession untill my death.
