James White McClung & Margaret Patrick his 3rd wife, were married, ----- -- -- 18--. Hugh Lawson McClung & Anna Gillispie his second wife, and daughter of George T. Gillispie and his wife formerly Eliza Carter, daughter of Landon Carter & Elizabeth his wife, whose maiden name was McLinn who resided in Carter County, were married at Clover Fields, the family residence, Jefferson County, Tennessee, on the 31st day of July 1845. Blanch their daughter was born in Knoxville, Tenn. April 10, 1846 Hugh Lawson, their son, was born, at Clover Fields, June 2, 1858
Charles McClung, son of Matthew McClung of Leacock (or Seacock) Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and Martha his wife, formerly Martha Cunningham, who was sisters daughter of James Campbell, who owned the land on which Lexington Virginia was laid out was born May 13, 1761. Margaret White, daughter of James White, who was the son of Moses White and Mary his wife, daughter of Hugh Lawson, all of North Carolina, was born, April 8, 1771. (Note: the recorder in this Bible was slightly mixed. Mary Lawson, daughter of Hugh Lawson was the wife of General James White, not his mother, as attest his own Bible, Page 1. (Charles McClung, our Father, in whose handwriting the foregoing entries are made down to and including the death of Betsy Jones Mounce, died at Herrodsburg Springs in Kentucky the 9th day of August 1835 and there he was buried.)
